Tech Talk – HPC’s Voltage offerings

From High to Low HPC Is The Way To Go

Intro:

HPC Fire Inspired is always raising the bar while maintaining the pulse of industry standards to ensure the continued production of safe, reliable, and quality appliances. The team’s knowledge and ingenuity allow them to meld the latest technology with the highest standards within the fire industry. HPC upholds the criteria outlined by American National Standards Institute or (ANSI) . In addition, each appliance is individually tested and certified by CSA . This Tech Talk is dedicated to educating HPC consumers about the different voltage options that HPC offers and what applications each appliance would lend itself to as well as what accessories are a must-have to ensure proper functioning.

Voltage Offerings:

HPC Fire Inspired offers fire appliances in 120, 24, and 12 volts. The 120 volts units make up approximately 85-90% of HPC sales. These units offer ease of installation as the appliance can connect with a standard home outlet receptacle. If an outlet is not near the installation site a line can be easily run and connected to the electrical panel in homes. 120 voltages lends itself to most spaces but should not be used within 5 feet of water. 24 volt and 12-volt appliances are HPC Fire Inspired’s low voltage options that can be used near water safely. HPC’s Copper Bowl series which incorporate water are great examples of fire and water feature offerings in low voltage. These units require a transformer or an HPC power supply that converts the 120 volts to 24 or 12 volts based on the need of the design.

HPC Power Supplies:

Per Chuck Parsons, “The use of power supplies are critical to the proper functioning of low voltage units, if incorrect transformers are used it will cause damage to the controls on the fire appliances.” When choosing a low voltage appliance Chuck Parson reminds our consumers that choosing the correct power supply is based on the units’ voltage as well as the number of units that are being run. Check out HPC’s online catalog as we offer appropriate transformers for the 24-volt models (24 VAC) offered in 1, 3, or 5 outputs, as well as the 12-volt models (12 VAC) offered in 1, 3, and 5 outputs. What separates HPC Power Supplies compared to other transformers on the market is that HPC’s power supply models are built-in and prepped for outdoor use. In addition, most transformers on the market are only 40 VA. This does not produce enough power to properly support fire appliances and will cause issues. HPC provides one-stop shopping for all your fire appliance needs allowing you to enjoy your feature immediately.
