4 Gas Fire Pit S’mores and Oven S’mores Ideas

A huge part of summertime fun is making s’mores around the fire and creating memories. We all remember creating this delicious treat when we were kids. Over the years, people have come up with new, elevated versions of this traditional treat. HPC consumers inquired, and our team wants to deliver family-friendly, safe recipes for s’mores that you can enjoy by the fire, as well as in our Forno de Pizza oven.

Gas Fire Appliances:
Consumers often ask if it is safe to cook on their gas fire appliances. While we can’t recommend cooking a full meal on gas fire features, it is safe to heat up things like s’mores. Here are two s’mores ideas that can be enjoyed fireside:

  • Traditional Recipe: Grab a skewer, your favorite graham cracker, some chocolate, and marshmallows. Place the marshmallow on your skewer and roast it to your liking. If you have an adjustable flame, turn it down low to avoid burning your marshmallow (unless you like it that way!). Get your graham crackers set with the chocolate, then place the marshmallow on the graham cracker. This simple treat can be enjoyed by all!
  • TIP: If marshmallows drip onto your media, it is best to let them cool completely before cleaning. Simply scoop soiled media in a bucket of soapy water and rinse. Once clean, the media can be returned to the pan.
  • S’more Cones: This recipe puts a fun twist on the traditional s’mores. Get a box of sugar or waffle cones, purchase your favorite chocolate morsels, and some mini marshmallows. You will also need some aluminum foil and tongs. Grab a cone and create alternating layers of marshmallow and chocolate. Gently wrap it in the foil and place it near the flames. Avoid placing the wrapped cone directly into the fire. One way to do this is to place a cast iron grill over the fire. You can also hold it over the flame with the tongs! Allow the s’more cones to cook for approximately 5-10 minutes. Carefully remove from the fire using tongs. Gently unwrap cones and enjoy!

S’mores Oven Recipes:
There are so many wonderful creations that can be made in your oven—and we specifically recommending using your Forno de Pizza outdoor oven! Here are two more delicious ways to enjoy s’mores:

Smores in a gas fire pit
  • Nutella S’more Pizza: Preheat your Forno de Pizza oven to approximately 600 degrees (you need to adjust your temperature if you are using an indoor kitchen appliance). You will need your favorite pre-made pizza dough, preferably an 8-inch round dough. If it is larger, you can cut it down to size. Create a mix of one-part cinnamon and one-part sugar. You will also need Nutella chocolate spread and marshmallows. Roll out the dough on your pizza pan. Gently sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the dough. Next, spread the Nutella on the crust. Lastly sprinkle a layer of marshmallows over the chocolate. Slide the pizza in the oven. Cook for approximately 1-2 minutes. allowing the crust to cook through and the marshmallows to become melted and golden. Remove from the oven. Promptly, cut, serve, and enjoy!
  • S’more Dip: Preheat your Forno de Pizza oven to approximately 450 degrees. Next gather your supplies. You will need a cast iron skillet, ½ tablespoon of butter, milk chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, and your favorite graham cracker. Melt butter in the cast iron skillet. Once melted, brush the entire inside of the skillet, then add approximately 1 ¾ cups of milk chocolate chips and ½ cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Cover the top of the chocolate with marshmallows. Bake for approximately 5-6 minutes or until the top of the marshmallows are golden. Remove skillet with oven safe gloves and enjoy your delicious concoction pairing with your favorite graham crackers.
