The Wait is Over: Get It While It’s Hot: HPC’s Fire Inspired Portable Sport Pit

The Sport Pit series’ portable design makes it ideal for campers and tailgaters alike. This Tech Talk is dedicated to educating customers about its’ innovative design that offers ease of use as well as a safe and reliable flame.

Design:

The Sport Pit Series is made with quality materials that can withstand outdoor elements. Setting up the unit is an easy process and free of arduous installation steps. The sport pit measures 13 inches high by 22 inches wide. The shell of the sport pit is made from aluminum with a black powder-coated finish that is both lightweight and durable. The lid of the unit is made from stainless steel painted in a black powder finish. When not in use the lid contains the media making it easy to transport. The burner pan is made from stainless steel and measures 12 ½ inches in diameter. The Sport Pit is outfitted with a 10 inch round commercial grade stainless steel burner. Weep holes are located at the ends of the burner to promote proper drainage. In addition, the sport pit utilizes hidden slot vents to promote proper ventilation.

HPC’s Sport Pit comes complete with black fire glass media, a matching screw-on lid , a tip-over switch which ensures safety, a thermocouple with flame recognition technology and a built-in regulator with a 13 foot hose that easily connects to a propane tank or directly to a RV or even a boat.

Set Up:
Start the set up process by selecting a safe clearing for your sport pit. Remove the lid and check media, redistributing if needed. Next attach the sport pit’s quick-connect port site to propane gas tank. The Sport Pit uses 37,000 BTU and is meant to run on a 20 LB barbecue tank. One 20 LB propane tank will yield approximately 13 hours of burn time. Once the connection is secure, the unit may be ignited. The sport pit utilizes a push-button ignition style. To start the flame, one must push the button holding it for a few seconds to open the valve allowing the gas to flow. Next, light the burner and hold the button for a few seconds to ensure the flame is properly fueled. Lastly, release the button. The push-button knob enables users to control the height of the flame ranging from high to low. In just a few simple steps, HPC’s fire is ready to enjoy.

Safety:
As always safety is at the forefront of every HPC Design. There are several features installed on the Sport Pit Series that enhance user safety and convenience. The Sport Pit has a tip-over switch. If the unit tips past a certain angle the valve shuts off causing the fire to be extinguished. This unit is outfitted with flame sensing technology. The thermocouple is positioned right next to the burner. Therefore, if the flame of the unit gets blown out due to wind or other elements the units’ valve will shut causing the gas to turn off. These features all work together to promote safe usage for HPC Customers.
