HPC takes extra care to innovate safe designs, creating layers of protection for our consumers building safety features in every appliance. At HPC Fire Inspired, we believe that keeping our consumers educated elevates their experience while keeping our users safe. Therefore, this Tech talk is dedicated to educating our consumers about proper fire pit operation. Our team will outline basic safety tips to ensure years of safe enjoyment.

Never Leave A Fire Feature Unattended. While HPC creates safe and reliable fire features, we urge users to avoid leaving a fire feature while it is in use. There are many variables that can not be accounted for. Monitoring your fire feature will ensure safe usage. HPC offers several automatic shutoff timers as add ons to ensure your appliance will power down once the set time lapses. Keep a watchful eye on children and pets enjoying the fire feature. It is important for families to discuss safety rules. Giving children guidelines will allow them to safely enjoy your fire appliance: from making S’mores to enjoying campfire stories.

Never Burn Wood or Other solid Fuels On your Gas Fire Feature. Gas Fire Appliances are not manufactured to burn solid fuels such as wood. HPC Fire Inspired designs are built to last. However, burning solid fuels over a gas appliance will damage burners as well as other components which could lead to a malfunction in the design and cause a gas leak. Be sure to know your fuel source and conduct regular maintenance to extend the life of your fire appliance. As an added precaution, it is a good to keep a fire extinguisher within reach in the event of an emergency.

No Cooking Over a Gas Fired Fire Pit. Cooking over a gas fire pit can cause a grease fire damaging the burner as well as the electronic equipment. HPC Fire Inspired fire appliances are not built to cook entire meals. However, it is safe to roast marshmallows for S’mores or heat a hot dog over the open flame.

Don’t Sit or Stand Too Close to an Open Flame. Outdoor flames can be unpredictable due the elements. Keeping proper spacing becomes especially imperative during windy conditions as the flames can be blown over to seating areas. HPC advises consumers to adhere to clearance guidelines ensuring that there is a safe distance from any combustibles. As an added precaution, HPC offers wind guards that reduce flame disturbance of your appliance as well as prevent any loose items from getting too close to the flame.

Please Drink Responsibly. There is nothing better than enjoying an adult beverage while taking in the ambiance of an HPC flame. However, it is imperative to drink responsibly as heavy consumption can lead to accidents.

Have Your Fire Pit Serviced. HPC recommends having your fire appliance serviced by a certified licensed technician to ensure your appliance is operating properly. It is also important to regularly check your appliance for any debris so that it can be removed to guarantee your appliance will operate at its’ optimal capacity. Doing these regular checks can extend the life or your fire feature. If at any time you smell gas, we advise consumers to turn off the appliance immediately as well as shut off the gas line. Then, notify your gas company so they may investigate the issue safely.
