FPPK Installation: Keeping Critical Components In Tact

HPC’s Processes Ensuring Quality Designs:
Earl Nightingale, an American author and speaker once said: “Integrity is the seed for achievement. It is the principle that never fails.” HPC stands by the integrity of our fire features. HPC takes special care curating designs, assembling each component with diligence and finally completing rigorous internal testing based on ANSI standards. Each of our team members play a crucial role in striving for excellence in every design. Each piece is carefully tooled and inspected during the assembly process. HPC’s quality and control team provides a final internal test of the fully assembled appliance. HPC takes the time to test the whole unit ensuring that the ignition system, valve, pan and burner all work seamlessly together ensuring our customers receive a safe, reliable fire feature design every time.

Recently HPC’s Tech Team has noticed increased calls around the FPPK (Push Button Fire Pit Ignition System) series. In Response, HPC’s Tech Team would like to dedicate this Tech Talk to reviewing the proper steps when installing an FPPK unit in an enclosure to ensure that all components remain in tact as they were assembled by HPC.

Installation Issue: What Not To Do
HPC’s Tech Team was made aware of an issue while discussing proper installation protocols with several installers. Through these consultations, HPC uncovered that some installers elected to disconnect the components leading to the base of the pan. In turn, this caused the pilot orifice to be compromised or dislodged. The pilot orifice plays a critical role in regulating the gas. Without the orifice, too much gas flows to the pilot creating a large pilot flame which causes the main burner to not light properly.

Upon uncovering this issue, HPC offered immediate guidance and resolution. HPC provided the consumers with a new pilot orifice and educated the installers to Never disconnect the components from the pan as this risks jostling or damaging critical components. Our Tech Team then took the time to review the proper installation with the installers.

Proper Installation:

When installing the FPPK series in an enclosure it is imperative to follow the step-by-step procedures. For ease of installation, download HPC’s 3D Installation and Troubleshooting App. The app provides installation instructions paired with visuals guiding installers through the process. When preparing the enclosure, remove the sleeve from the igniter box. The sleeve is easily removed by unscrewing two screws from the face of the box. Once removed, the enclosure can be built around the sleeve. Once the enclosure is completed the igniter box can be installed back into the sleeve through the top of the enclosure keeping all of the critical components intact. After securing the box, the connections and the pan should be guided through the top of the enclosure. Lastly, add your desired media to the pan and enjoy your fire design.
